Patient X

Patient X suffered from damage in the hippocampal formation and the perihinal cortex.

He got global amnesia.

He had little memory of what happened before the inversion. He could not learn new words or remember things that happened more than a few minutes earlier. This incapacity of encoding new declarative memory induced a loop-like behaviour; for instance, he could be waking up several times every 30 seconds.

He was absent goal directed or problem solving.

He was uncooperative and unable to recognize inappropriate social interaction behaviour. uncooperative.

He was also unaware of other people's needs and feelings, including mine.
